Getting found on Google Maps in Riyadh
For a clinic, a workshop, a restaurant or a supplier with a counter, the Google Business Profile is often the highest-earning thing you own online — ahead of the website. It is what appears when someone nearby searches with intent to buy today, it sits above the organic results, and it carries a call button.
Most profiles in Riyadh are half-finished: created once, categorised roughly, never revisited. That is the opportunity. The work is neither difficult nor expensive, and the businesses ahead of you have usually not done it either.
Category is the biggest single lever
More than anything else, the primary category decides which searches you appear in. Choosing something vague because it sounded broader quietly removes you from the exact queries that would have converted.
Look at what the competitors above you are categorised as, then choose deliberately. It is a ten-minute change that regularly moves more than a month of other work.
The settings that matter
- Verification. Unverified profiles rank poorly and cannot be fully edited.
- Duplicates. Two listings for one business split your reviews and compete with each other. Find them and merge them.
- Services and products. Listed individually, in both languages, using the words customers search rather than your internal names.
- Photos. Real ones, correctly sized, added on a schedule rather than all at once.
- Hours. Including the ones that catch people out — Ramadan, public holidays, and the difference between the counter and the phone line.
- Attributes. These become filters in Maps, so an unset attribute is a filter you quietly fail.
Both languages, always
Google serves the profile version matching the searcher’s language. Filling in one and stopping is the most common thing we find in Riyadh, and it halves your reach for nothing.
The same logic applies to your website: a single language is a decision to be absent from half the market. Local SEO in Riyadh covers how the profile and the site reinforce each other.
Reviews, within the rules
You cannot buy reviews, offer discounts for them, or screen out unhappy customers before asking. All three breach Google’s policies and all three are detectable.
What works is unremarkable: ask every customer at the right moment, make it one tap rather than a hunt, and reply to everything. The asking works best coming from the person who did the work, which means it has to come from your team rather than from an agency.
What it is worth
For most local businesses in Riyadh, a properly completed profile produces more enquiries per riyal than any other channel, because the traffic is people searching for exactly what you sell, near where you are, right now.
That is why we do not quote it as an add-on to a website project. The full scope is on the Google Business Profile page, and if your website is the weaker half, what a website costs sets out that side.
